What is Tin Ore

Tin is a strategically important metal widely used in electronics, chemical industry, aerospace and other fields. Due to its higher density compared to associated minerals, gravity separation methods are generally employed in tin ore beneficiation. Equipment such as jigging machines, shaking tables, and spiral concentrators are used to separate minerals and produce high-grade tin concentrate.

Tin Ore Process Flow

In the process of re-election, under the action of external forces such as gravity and water flow, the tin ore material is layered and separated according to the density differences of different minerals, thereby achieving the purpose of benefication, the following is the detailed tin ore benefication process:

Raw Material Pretreatmen

Raw ore (typically 0–200mm) undergoes pre-screening and impurity removal via a feeder and grizzly screen. Material >100mm is transported to a stockpile for storage. Ore passing the grizzly screen (0–100mm) enters trommel type sand washer via conveyor.

Screening Washing & Crushing

Material ‌20–100mm‌ is screened out and sent to stockpile. Material ‌6–20mm‌ is conveyed to an ‌impact crusher‌ for further crushing, with crushed ore recirculated into the trommel type sand washer. Material ‌0–6mm‌ (qualified size) enters a ‌spiral classifier‌ for classification.

Gravity Separation

After classification, 0–0.18mm material enters a ‌spiral chute‌ for roughing, producing ‌raw concentrate‌. Raw concentrate undergoes ‌shaking table‌ cleaning to obtain ‌tin concentrate‌. ‌Magnetic separator‌ removes iron minerals, yielding final products: ‌tin concentrate‌, ‌iron concentrate‌, and ‌tantalum-niobium concentrate‌.

0.18-6mm material undergoes ‌roughing jig‌ and ‌cleaning jig‌ for dual-stage separation, yielding ‌raw tin concentrate‌. Then further processed by ‌shaking table‌ to improve ‌tin grade‌ and ‌output‌. Final concentrate passes through a ‌magnetic separator‌ to remove iron and producing 3 products: ‌tin concentrate, iron concentrate and ‌tantalum-niobium concentrate.

Tailings Treatment

‌The tailings wastewater generated during the process is concentrated in a washing and recovery unit for treatment, and the sludge can be treated by paste thickener, filter press for dry piling.

Process Advantages

  1. Processing capacity up to 100 tons per hour.
  2. No chemical reagents required, ensuring low operational costs.
  3. ‌Eco-Friendly, no risk of wastewater pollution. Achieved through equipment like jiggers and shaking tables.
  4. ‌Optimal for coarse-grained sand tin ore (>0.1mm). After shaking table concentration, the grade of the concentrate can exceed 60%.
