As a major global chrome ore producer, South Africa’s chrome resources are mainly distributed in the renowned Bushveld Igneous Complex. The ores in this region are predominantly massive and densely disseminated, with a Cr₂O₃ content typically ranging from 40% to 50%. Based on the properties of South African chrome ore, we have designed a rational 50tph chrome ore beneficiation process (chrome washing plant) for our South African customers.

Chrome Washing Plant

For a 50 tons per hour chrome ore washing and processing capacity, we have provided our South African customers with a complete equipment configuration plan that balances reliability, cost and separation efficiency. The main equipment list is as follows:

Crushing Jaw Crusher PE600×900 Responsible for the primary crushing of large raw ore,
reducing the material to below 100–150 mm.
Cone Crusher CSB240 Performs secondary and tertiary crushing; closed-circuit
circulation ensures the discharge size is ≤12 mm.
Circular Vibrating Screen 3YK2460 Screens the crushed materials; oversize material is
returned to the cone crusher for re-crushing.
Grinding & Grading Rod Mill Ф2700×4000 Grinds materials ≤12 mm to 0.5–1 mm
with minimal over-crushing.
Ball Mill Ф2700×3600 Conducts fine grinding in closed circuit with a classifier, reducing rough
concentrate to –0.3 mm or finer to achieve mineral liberation.
Spiral Classifier Ф2000 Works in conjunction with the ball mill to separate
qualified-size slurry; coarse sand is returned for re-grinding.
Classification Spiral Chute 5LL-1200 Used for roughing and scavenging, achieving preliminary concentration
based on density difference with a recovery rate of over 50%.
Shaking Table LY4000 Performs cleaning to further upgrade the spiral chute concentrate,
producing high-grade chrome concentrate.
Magnetic Separator CTB1024 Removes impurities and upgrades the concentrate by eliminating
weakly magnetic gangue minerals, improving concentrate purity.
Dewatering Gravity Thickener NMJ20 Provides preliminary sedimentation and dewatering of
the concentrate, reducing the load for subsequent drying.
Rotary Drum Dryer RD24 Conducts thorough drying to produce final chrome concentrate
powder with qualified moisture content (typically <5%).

Summary: Chrome ore beneficiation process consists of a complete set of procedures including crushing, grinding, classification, separation and dewatering. Each procedure is equipped with corresponding equipment. Proper selection of beneficiation equipment can achieve maximum economic benefits.
